❝Thank you Gleam Clean!❞
★★★★★ - "Robert was great. He basically restored our study after it flooded. He pulled the carpet out, sucked up the water and then re-laid the carpet. He even moved all of the furniture! Thank you Gleam Clean!"

Types of Water Damage Requiring Emergency Extraction
Our first step is to determine the category of water damage present on your property. This is important, as the remediation process will depend on the source and condition of the flood. The following terms and descriptions explain the standard classification system for water damage:
Category 1: People and pets are in no danger of health risks. Category 1 water is sanitary water, fit for drinking. However, once the clean water leaves its source (a pipe to a sink, for example) it can mix with contaminated soil or other contaminants and quickly progress to Category 2.
Category 2: This water is not safe for drinking, as it has been contaminated. Category 2 water is also known as “gray water”. It may have entered your home or place of business by a clogged toilet, aquarium spill, leaking appliance, or broken pipe.
Category 3: This water is highly contaminated and potentially toxic for people and pets. Category 3 water may contain pesticides, raw sewage or heavy metals. Examples are floodwater from rivers and streams or even groundwater that is flooded. Category 3 water is referred to as “black water”. It will probably have a noxious odor. In addition to removing the water and completely drying the damaged areas, special action must be taken to disinfect and sanitize the affected surfaces.
Classes of Water Damage Requiring Emergency Extraction
The Classes of Water damage is another system to categorize the extent of damage from water leaks or floods. Class categories represent the expected rate of evaporation. Determining the water damage class helps to develop a plan of attack to quickly remediate the problem. It also helps contractors determine the equipment required and the size of the restoration crew to be dispatched.
Class 1: The evaporation rate is fairly high. Flood water will need to be extracted but the drying time is quick. Little of the interior building structures are involved.
Class 2: Moderate evaporation rate. An entire room or area has been affected and yet there is less than two feet of moisture up the walls. The flooring is completely saturated, and quick extraction and drying is essential to stop mold and mildew growth. Flooring may be damaged, requiring replacement or repair, but the structural components of the building are generally intact.
Class 3: . Extensive water damage. Often the flooding has come from above. Walls and ceilings are saturated above two feet. The entire area will need to be extracted and dried very quickly. The ceiling and walls will need to be opened up and dried out.
No matter the category of class, the water must be removed and the affected areas thoroughly dried as soon as possible to prevent growth of microorganisms. Gleam Clean Carpet Cleaning uses swift action to prevent the growth of mold and mildew. At Gleam Clean Carpet Cleaning, our water damage technicians will be with you every step of the way.
